Karaoke markets

Slept about 14 hours last night which I desperately needed after all my travels. Woke up to the sounds of cheering, music and whistles on the street below Carla's window. Remembered it was the berin marathon today.
We set off on our bikes, through the centre if Berlin and up to the northern suburbs where there is a massive flea market and huge outdoor karaoke session. Markets so crowded with aisles and aisles of bits and bobs. Had gozlemes for lunch. There is a huge Turkish community here because Germany brought them in as workers so lots of good Turkish food. Carla wasn't feeling well so she came home and I pottered around the markets and rode all the way home by myself which I was pretty proud of.

Beer for breakfast and schnitzel for arvo tea

Big day for me my boys. One thing I noticed at the airport while I was waiting for my flight from Frankfurt to Berlin was loads of people having big jugs of beer at about 7am!!!
Finally arrived in Berlin and Carla was there to meet me. Here are some photos of our day. I hired a bike and we cycled round an old airport that's been made into a park. We had schnitzel for dinner at about 5pm because we couldn't wait any longer. Exhausted now and about to crash.

The Missing Piece of Me

Hi mama,
Loving and missing you a lot. It has been BOILING here. Yesterday just after we dropped you at the airport we looked at the temperature gage and it was 33 degrees! Later in the day (I think it was at about 5pm) we looked at the temperature gage and it was 34 degrees! Oh, also last night we tried out Nick's (from Vacanza) new restaurant. It was really good. I'll tell you more about it later. We then went to get gelato from the new Messina gelato place in Surry Hills (they were originally in Darlinghurst, remember?)... That was really fun. Anyway, last night we all slept in your room. We put my trundle bed next to dad's side of the bed and we all slept in a row. This morning when I woke up I was quite teary. Every time I heard a door slam I thought it was you coming home. I wanted to get my mind off you (so I'd stop crying) so I made pancakes (pictures below). I think they turned out nicely. I'm really missing you. I said to dad last night that I felt like a part of me was missing. You are such a big part of my life I can't bear to see you go. This morning I woke up with a funny tummy and I called my sickness 'Mumbeinggonesickness'.
As you can probably tell, I love you to the moon and back,

I Love You

Hi Mum,
I just want you to know that I will give absolutely ANYTHING to see your smiling face just one more time. I was feeling okay but then I started looking for a photo of you and I couldn't find one and I started crying again. I know you've only been gone for a few hours, but it seems like you've been gone for a few centuries. I just want to hug you again and know that you will be there if I ever have to talk to you.

Leaving on a jet plane

Very teary farewell after quite a melancholy morning. Big J and Flea very sad about me going. Strange to be on my way after all the excitement and build up. Feel a bit tired and sad right now to be too excited.
I'm sure I'll perk up soon and I know the scalliwags will cheer up and have a lovely time together.

Mum's Packing Her Bags!

Mum's packing her bags and she's going to London, Berlin and Paris. Lucky duck! So while she's living the London life, beautifying Berlin and perfecting her Paris style, I'm stuck in soggy Sydney, going to school. She doesn't go away for a few weeks but when she does, I'll be writing what happened in my day and when she wakes up she can see my post and write her own. My posts will probably be the boring stuff like my teacher got angry at the class again but she'll write 'I've been meeting French movie stars'.

Wow mum, you are so lucky.
