Lone Star State

Can't really think straight as we had just had a 15 hour flight to Dallas. Kids were slightly (very) nervous about my hotel choice as I said I hadn't booked anything fancy which in the past hasn't always worked out so well. Cab driver told us on approach that this used to be a bad area and the hotel used to be "crap" but had made good in the last few years. It is on a highway (kinda) and I guess it's more of a motel than hotel but it's a very mid century, southern, homely, down to earth kind of place. Boys are thrilled (phew) and we made a beeline for the pool because it's stinking hot. Another bonus is that it's got a smokehouse BBQ restaurant next door so we are off for a big Texan feed. No doubt that will deserve a post of its own. I'm sure we'll love it to the moon and back.
