Wipeout

Dallas was a bit of a wipeout. Leo got a cold on the plane and Jed had a 24 hour vomiting bug! Somehow though it all sort of worked out in the end.
We were excited to go to SMOKE which was the restaurant attached to our hotel. It rates pretty highly on the Dallas food scene. They have their own smokehouse so you could constantly smell a sweet, smokey aroma while walking round the grounds of the hotel. The boys were excited to order root beers and we ordered up ribs and pulled hog!! (yes I was hungry from the flight and thought the serving very un-Texan like in it's size but it was more than sufficient ). Just as Jed was sinking his teeth into his first rib he was struck with some rather dramatic and agonizing stomach cramps. After scoffing our dinner and getting his to go we ushered him back to the room where there was further writhing around until he fell asleep. We all had fitful sleeps and he seemed a bit better in the morning but was famished. We got the hotel to drop us at the nearest suburb, an offbeat, artsy little area called the Bishops Arts District. Jed proceeded to vomit in the flowerbeds outside a fancy little shop. He stopped long enough for us to have some Breaky before hot footing it back to our hotel where he again emptied his recently consumed breakfast onto the driveway of the hotel!! The staff at the Belmont Hotel were so sweet and understanding. Checking on us regularly and bringing him icy ginger ale to sooth his tum. It was such a great place to rest and recooperate and the boys just enjoyed watching some terrible American TV. I'm happy to say by that afternoon he had made a remarkable recovery (he was literally cartwheeling around the lawn) and he was finally able to enjoy some of those smokey ribs for dinner.
