I've been thinking about what would be a good term for back packing with kids. I asked the fam to think about something funny and witty like flashpacking (posh backpacking). We have been tossing some ideas around and then at lunch today the boys were grizzling or fighting and it came to me quite suddenly and naturally - BRATPACKING!
The boys weren't that taken with the term but I think it's perfect!
They have been pretty good overall - interested, respectful, polite, adventurous and cheeky - but we've certainly had our moments. They've loved hanging out with the gorgeous young Aussie girl and her parents who we met at Bamboo Nest in Thailand and it's been great bumping into them and hanging out with them on the road (and the river). The boys always looked eagerly when they saw a slow boat pulling into shore along the Mekong to see if she was on it and they tracked her down in Luang Prabang as well. We all teamed up and cycled out of town together to visit a Hmong New Year festival (more on that later), the kids have enthusiastically put another project into production (a mystery this time) in which they roped in a couple of backpackers from the street to be extras, and we've had street food feasts and night market strolls.
Ah, the joys!!!
