Hi everyone, Leo here. Mum's told you a lot about this trip but this is my take. Here I go:
After the plane ride we were waited in the 27 degree Bangkok night heat for about ten minutes. Everyone was so busy and everything you could imagine was happening around us but we didn't notice; we were literally falling over ourselves with sleep. Our driver eventually turned up and so we set off for our first destination; Phranakorn Norlern. Apparently, we got stuck in traffic so many times but I didn't notice because I was sound asleep!
I woke up to hear dad trying to talk to the taxi driver but having no such luck and seeing all these bright lights in trees. I later found out that this was for the king or as the Thai say it "For King" which dad thought was another word!
One of the things I don't really like about traveling is not knowing what to expect. For example, to get to our guesthouse you had to turn down a dark and dingy alleyway. I was thinking "Oh no, what's this place?" and it didn't help when the taxi driver stopped outside of this big empty building with wire in the concrete fence like a jail. I think that mum saw that my face was a bit long so she said "Turn around!" and I was very happy with what I saw!
The guesthouse turned out to be this gorgeous place (with a wooden fence and no wire in sight!). The first day we went to this amazing weekend market. There was such an amazing variety of things at that market; first we went to look at all the clothing stalls, then we went and got some amazing coconut ice cream, then we all went to get foot massages Also, we met this German family who's kids also spoke Spanish so I was chasing them around like mad trying to practice my Spanish with them. Of course, they thought this was hilarious! Everybody at the guesthouse was really lovely and we all felt like it was like this little haven in the middle of busy, bustling Bangkok and I loved it to the moon and back.
