Paris Gare du Nord

Well I won't be able to post this tonight because we haven't got wifi sorted in our apartment yet but I thought I tap something out anyway.
Had a bit of a schlep to get to the tube dragging my suitcase around London then made my way on the Picadilly line up to the station the Eurostar leaves from. Met Rayles and we went through security and had our passports checked before we boarded the train. Before we knew it we were in Paris where a very rotund French gentlemen by the name of Ted (I think that's what he said) picked us up and brought us to the apartment. We have to punch in a security number on the big old gates at the front and it leads into an inner courtyard and staircase to the apartments. Children were laughing and playing and rusty coloured ivy is growing up the side of the building. Our apartment is spacious and sweet. Not flash or precious but homely and lovely. Creaky uneven wooden floorboards and big exposed wooden beams in the ceiling add to the charm.
We hadn't had lunch so set off on a walk through the Marais (name of our area) to find a restaurant I had heard of. After a long walk with our tummies rumbling we found the restaurant was closed so we found the nearest bistro full on French people, sat down and devoured Champange and bistrot burgers!!!
Looking forward to exploring the city tomorrow. It's picturesque, lively, bustling and beautiful.......
